My current skin care routine.

A few of you have been asking lately what my skin care routine is like so here it is.

I have been making a conscious effort to use cruelty free, more natural products but there are a few things in here i’m uncertain of that are either older products, samples or gifts.

My Obagi basics.

I received the Obagi C system (for oily skin) from my mother in law who has been using it with great results for a while now.

Vitamin C Protection Like You’ve Never Seen Before

With Obagi-C Rx, you’re on your way to softer, smoother, radiant, and more even skin tone. The Obagi-C Rx System offers the benefits of both prescription-strength 4% hydroquinone and powerful antioxidant Vitamin C to address the signs of skin damage and help restore and maintain younger-looking skin.

Obagi-C Rx System products are ideal if you have:
  • Minimal fine lines and wrinkles
  • Mild to moderate unevenness of skin tone
  • Mild to moderate discoloration and age spots
  • Dry, normal, or oily skin

I found the products a little too drying at first so i only used them once a day until my skin adjusted and now i’m able to use it twice a day as it suggests. My skin has become incredibly clear, obviously i didn’t have deep wrinkles and age spots but my skin tone has definitely evened out. My darkest freckles have lightened, any discoloration from breakouts is basically gone and i feel like my skin has a new radiance.

I thought my skin might miss the more acne-targetting products i’ve used for years to deal with breakouts but i’ve barely had a zit.

My makeup goes on smoother and lasts longer and i don’t need to use as much. I happily go out without any foundation on now which would’ve made me cringe a little before.

Considering this wasn’t something i’d researched and got for myself i was seriously surprised how well its worked for me. Whether this will be a longterm affair or not i’m not sure but i’m happy with the results so far.

My mother in law also got me an avene eye cream that i’ve been using with the obagi and it seems to have kept my eye eczema at bay really well and hydrated any fine lines i had.

Treatments and masks.

In case of breakouts or dry and dull skin, these are my go-to items.

- Murad clarifying mask is great for those giant volcano zits that come out of no where but also good for generally greasy areas like the t-zone.

- Lush grease lightning is the perfect spot treatment for more sensitive skin. It uses tea tree to dry out any problem areas without being too drying. Full of yummy ingredients!

- Fresh rose face mask is great for when i have patchy, dry skin because it hydrates and tones those areas without making the rest of my skin too greasy. Smells like heaven too!

- Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel is great for oily skin that also gets dry skin build up. Definitely brightens my skin tone and leaves it smooth.

My Perricone favorites.

- Intensive Pore Minimizer really does work and i’ve had lasting effects especially around my nose from using this product. I use it first thing in the morning before working out.

- High Potency Evening Repair is something i use at night when my skin has been dry and dull just to give it a boost.

- Cold plasma is one of perricones star products for anti aging but also generally improves your skins texture. I got this in a kit and don’t think i’d necessarily buy it again but it has been a great addition so far. I’d say this is for slightly older skin.

My Naked Skin favorites.

- Their eye makeup remover is great for waterproof makeup and is still so gentle!

- Thirst aid is my favorite any-time moisturizer. I like to slather on a layer of this when flying to help keep my skin supple and protected from all the drying air.

Hi Rhian! Just wondering if your still using perricone for skin care and what kind of skin type are you? Just wondering because I might try it and I have combo skin. Oily t zone but normal everywhere else. And can you post a side view of your hair? I love the ombre and can't find anything close to yours. Xoxo!!

I do indeed!

I have combination skin. Normal mostly but oily t-zone and prone to clogged pores.

There are lots of photos of my hair if you go to my tumblr and click the c’est moi tab!

Hypoallergenic Perricone MD

For those of you with sensitive skin who want to try out the magic/voodoo of Perricone MD, now is the time!

My current skin care favorites.

I will forever love this eye make up remover. Gently rubbing a small amount into your lashes emulsifies even the most stubborn waterproof mascara… wipe away with a face wipe or cotton pad and voila.. makeup-free and soft skin around your eyes.

For a good deep down clean, this is my favorite exfoliator. I massage it all over my face in the shower, leave it on while i shave my legs or twiddle my thumbs and then rinse off. Breaks down dead skin, unclogs pores and smells like pumpkin spice. LOVE it!

I alternate the peel & reveal with amore pacific treatment enzyme peel. It’s a powder that you mix with a little water and use like a regular face soap. My skin feels so clean but its gentle and doesn’t dry it out.

For large visible pores, this stuff is like magic. I’ve found i’ve had long lasting results with it too. Just use as a toner after you’ve cleansed your face and let dry for a minute or so..

I got a tester of high potency eye lift and figured i’d give it a go. I didn’t have a huge problem with bags or aging but i definitely noticed a difference after using it a couple of times. The skin was more taught but still soft and supple. Any darkening i did have under my eyes also didn’t seem to be so obvious. The tester is lasting me forever too!

Because i have a massive aging phobia, i decided to try Perricone’s cold plasma when they had a big sale and i seriously love it. I obviously don’t have much in the way of wrinkles to start with but it makes my skin feel soft, plumped up and evened out. (pricey so try and get samples or watch out for sales)

I also love Perricone’s face finishing moisturizer used in conjunction with cold plasma for the softest, most supple skin in the world.

I also alternate moisturizers at times and switch it up with yu-be moisturizing skin cream. If i know i’m going out in the cold or wind i slather this stuff on and it keeps it soft and protected from the elements.

What's your daily facial care routine? Your skin is looking so plump and amazing.

Lol.. plump is what i was aiming for.

I used to use DDF products with great results but recently have been trying out Perricone products and LOVE it!

I think my skin is *touch wood* transitioning out of the greasy teen stage finally so i don’t need such strong acids etc in the products, i can just work on the overall health of my skin.

I always take my makeup off before bed and wash my face with the their glycolic bar, i find its less harsh than some glycolic/AHA products and leaves my skin feeling clean without being tight.

I always finish my skin care routine with cold plasma and their face finishing moisturizer.

If you have enlarged pores i would definitely recommend their intensive pore minimizer. I use it in place of a toner and have had long lasting results.

If it isn’t my skin care making my face look plump its probably that i’ve lost a little face chub and have done some contouring in the photos you’re looking at :)

- I did donate it all to charities, yes! Mainly St Jude and Breast Cancer Research. :)
- All i can say is that they work great for me, i can’t promise you that they’ll work on your skin since i’m not a dermatologist but you could go into a sephora and ask for some samples to try. Alternatively buy one of the miniature/travel kits so you can try some out without spending big bucks on the full size products :) I especially love the pore minimizer!
- Shellac can dry out your nails but if you take care of them, remove the shellac properly and you’re healthy, it shouldn’t be a problem. If you’re worried you could take breaks in between and use lots of cuticle oil and really baby them. I’ve never had a problem with it myself!
- I get them from all over the place: H&M, AA and karmaloop mostly :)
- Mmm.. because i like to?!
- 32DD-E, Elle Macpherson bras are perfect for your situation ;)
- Yes, i have a trainer! I do weights with her 5x a week and take her spin class 2x a week! Totally worth it for me but it depends what you want out of it, your schedule and your budget.
- We both have simple, platinum Tiffany’s wedding bands, wasn’t much of a decision really!
- I haven’t used drug store brands in a long time because i found the quality was usually just bad :( Some of the Sephora brand makeup isn’t too expensive. Anyone particularly like any drug store brands?
